Roundtable at UVT: Parliamentary elections in the Republic of Moldova and the challenges of the pro-European path

Faculty of Government and Communication Sciences within West University of Timisoara organize TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, a roundtable dedicated to one of the most relevant political topics of the moment: the parliamentary elections in the Republic of Moldova and the challenges of its pro-European path.
The event brings together prominent figures from academia and the field of expertise in international relations and security, in an interdisciplinary dialogue dedicated to students, teachers and all those interested in geopolitical developments in the European Union's eastern neighborhood.
Guest speakers:
- Iulian Chifu – foreign policy expert and analyst, former presidential advisor to Romania
- Igor Sharov – rector of the Moldova State University
- Alexandru Bălan – expert in security and regional policies
- Marilen Gabriel Pirtea – rector of the West University of Timișoara
The event will be moderated by Lecturer Dr. Alexandru Jădăneanț, the dean of the Faculty of Governance and Communication Sciences.

The roundtable aims to analyze the political and strategic directions of the Republic of Moldova at a key moment in its democratic evolution, discussing topics such as:
- the relationship between pro-European orientation and regional geopolitical influences;
- the impact of the 2025 parliamentary elections on internal stability and reforms;
- the role of Romania and the European Union in supporting democracy and the rule of law in the Republic of Moldova.
